Stranded in the city during the summer, calls for soothing intellectual activities: Reading, writing, creating, listening to pretentiously difficult bands and if I’m really lucky, days are brightened by my father’s Old Testament stories recitations. Dreams of my favorite sunlit beach enclosed behind eye shutters at night and the following surfer words bounce up and down in mind corridors:
“We only write about two feelings: one is the first day of summer when you and all of your friends are standing on the edge of a cliff watching the sun set and being overcome with all of your hopes and dreams at once. The other is when you’re walking alone in the rain and realize you will be alone forever.”
