Late June at a farm in Lancaster County Pennsylvania, 1870. A sartorially conscious Amish girl diplays her “soft dynamic” in her modest dresses, black and white bonnets, and sunset washed spirituality. At least in my mind that is how Boo George and Havana Laffitte have translated this impeccable Vogue Japan June ’13 editorial in their literary infused creative vision. I do not see Frida ’cause what she is suggestive of is the grandeur of simple living, the power of self sufficience, the beauty of rural practices and the dreamy aspect of late afternoons and fading dawn in the wilderness. It’s so funny how certain images can hold such immense allure of spiritual gravity and how after this, I desperately need a hay-wagon and a horse.
